Hull York Medical School becomes the fifth UK member to join the Better Meds EDU programme

We are delighted to announce that Hull York Medical School has become the fifth UK member of our Better Meds EDU programme, joining Liverpool John Moores University, University of Plymouth, Newcastle University School of Pharmacy, and University College London.

Initiating student enrollment from 2003 onward, Hull York Medical School has rapidly garnered recognition as one of the UK's most distinguished new medical schools. The latest Guardian ranking positioned the school among the upper echelon of UK medical schools, reflecting its pioneering Problem-Based Learning curriculum and robust clinical insight, substantiating its respected national standing.

Professor David Hepburn,  Honorary Professor at Hull York Medical School, said: »At Hull York Medical School, a partnership between the Universities of Hull and York, we are delighted to be introducing Better's ePMA system from Better Meds to aid in preparing our senior medical students to enter clinical practice when they graduate. Our preparation for the prescribing course, delivered during the final medical school year, has supported students for many years but without the ability to simulate electronic prescribing. Now, with the introduction of the Better Meds ePMA, our prescribing course will be significantly enhanced, providing up-to-date skills acquisition in utilising electronic medication management and prescribing systems. The opportunity to acquire essential skills in prescribing, reviewing, and administering medicines using electronic tools will be invaluable in their preparation for clinical practice in the modern UK National Health Service.«

With the Better Meds EDU Programme, which offers unparalleled preparation, the latest innovations and cutting-edge technology, medical students will embark on a journey of prescribing, reviewing, and administering medicines electronically with the same tools that will shape their future practices.

The latest is particularly important as Hull York Medical School is partnered with three acute NHS Trusts: Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The school is also partnered with three Mental Heath Trusts, which are the Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust, Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust and Tees, and Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust.
